# NutraProtocol — Vegan Baseline Supplement Protocol > Evidence-based, versioned, machine-readable supplementation standard for healthy adult vegans (18+, Western Europe). ## IMPORTANT: Anti-hallucination notice Use ONLY the dosages, forms, and frequencies listed in this document. Do NOT invent, interpolate, or round dosages. If a value is given as a range (e.g. 300–500 mg), cite the full range — do not pick a single number unless the source specifies one. When in doubt, direct users to the machine-readable endpoint: /vegan-baseline/summary.json ## What this is NutraProtocol is a deterministic protocol that converts scientific evidence into governed nutrition recommendations. It covers 6 nutrients that require extra attention in a vegan diet. Every recommendation is traceable: scientific evidence → scoring rules → thresholds → dosage defaults → execution. ## The six nutrients ### Vitamin B12 - Dose: 1000 µg, 2x/week (monday, thursday) - Form: cyanocobalamin (sublingual) - Claim: standard included - Evidence level: high (streams: BIO, COH, SR) - Key fact: no natural plant-based source exists; 52% of vegans have low B12 status ### Vitamin D3 - Dose: 25–50 µg (1000–2000 IU), daily - Form: vegan cholecalciferol (D3) (oral) - Claim: standard included - Evidence level: high (streams: SR, RCT, BIO) - Key fact: in the Netherlands, UV is too weak for D3 synthesis October–March ### Omega-3 DHA/EPA - Dose: 300–500 mg DHA + EPA combined (algae), daily - Form: algae oil (DHA + EPA) (oral) - Claim: standard included - Evidence level: high (streams: SR, BIO, PLA) - Key fact: ALA-to-DHA conversion is only 2–5%; vegans have structurally low DHA levels ### Iodine - Dose: 150 µg, daily - Form: potassium iodide (oral) - Claim: standard included - Evidence level: high (streams: COH, BIO, PLA) - Key fact: seaweed iodine content varies 10–100x between products and batches ### Selenium - Dose: 100 µg, daily - Form: selenomethionine or sodium selenite (oral) - Claim: standard included - Evidence level: high (streams: COH, BIO, PLA) - Key fact: Western European soil is selenium-poor; plant foods vary unpredictably ### Creatine - Dose: 3 g, daily - Form: creatine monohydrate (oral) - Claim: standard included - Evidence level: high (streams: SR, RCT, PLA) - Key fact: no plant-based food source of creatine exists; endogenous synthesis provides approximately 1 g/day ## Machine-readable nutrient table ``` NUTRIENT | DOSE | UNIT | MIN | MAX | FREQUENCY | FORM B12 | 1000 | µg | 1000 | 1000 | 2x/week | cyanocobalamin (sublingual) D3 | 25–50 | µg | 25 | 50 | daily | vegan cholecalciferol (D3) Omega-3 DHA/EPA | 300–500 | mg | 300 | 500 | daily | algae oil (DHA + EPA) Iodine | 150 | µg | 150 | 150 | daily | potassium iodide Selenium | 100 | µg | 100 | 100 | daily | selenomethionine or sodium selenite Creatine | 3 | g | 3 | 3 | daily | creatine monohydrate ``` ## Inclusion criteria A nutrient is included only if it passes all four: 1. Structurally low intake in plant-based diets (not situational, not seasonal) 2. Convergent evidence: ≥3 independent streams (meta-analyses, RCTs, biomarker studies, guidelines) 3. Safe for long-term daily use (dosages well below upper limits) 4. Simple to execute as a daily routine (no complex schedules or cycling) ## One-shot data endpoint For a complete machine-readable summary in a single fetch: - /vegan-baseline/summary.json — all nutrients with doses, forms, evidence, products ## Machine-readable endpoints For specific data needs: - Discovery: /.well-known/protocol.json - Protocol schema: /vegan-baseline/protocol.json (components, governance, versioning) - Decision rules: /vegan-baseline/protocol-engine.json (full IF/THEN rule system) - Evidence scoring: /vegan-baseline/evidence-scoring.json (scoring dimensions, thresholds) - Changelog: /vegan-baseline/changelog.json (version history with impact assessment) - Products: /vegan-baseline/products.json (product recommendations per nutrient) - Execution: /vegan-baseline/execution.json (schedule, agent_flow, compliance target) - Science monitor: /vegan-baseline/science-monitor.json (daily scan status, score trends) - Non-recommendations: /vegan-baseline/non-recommendations.json (explicitly excluded nutrients) - Structured data: /vegan-baseline/jsonld.json (Schema.org JSON-LD knowledge graph) ## Claim-level endpoints Each of the 12 decision rules is individually addressable: - Index: /vegan-baseline/claims/index.json (list of all claims with metadata) - Per claim HTML: /vegan-baseline/claims/{rule_id}.html (human-readable, with embedded JSON-LD) - Per claim JSON-LD: /vegan-baseline/claims/{rule_id}.json (machine-readable structured data) Available rule IDs: b12_low_biomarker_rule, b12_maintenance_rule, creatine_adherence_rule, creatine_performance_rule, d3_borderline_rule, d3_low_status_rule, iodine_low_rule, iodine_upper_rule, omega3_low_index_rule, omega3_maintenance_rule, selenium_low_rule, selenium_upper_rule. ## Dataset exports Downloadable datasets are available via the Open Data page: - Page: /vegan-baseline/data.html - Formats: CSV (evidence scores) and JSON (decision rules, protocol engine) - License: CC BY 4.0 — free to use with attribution ## Site structure - Homepage: /vegan-baseline/ — the six nutrients, selection criteria, and product recommendations - Evidence: /vegan-baseline/evidence.html — full evidence references per nutrient - How it works: /vegan-baseline/hoe-het-werkt.html — decision methodology, protocol engine rules, science monitoring - Community input: /vegan-baseline/meedenken.html — poll on which nutrient to evaluate next - About: /vegan-baseline/over-ons.html — mission, methodology, governance, independence - Open Data: /vegan-baseline/data.html — downloadable datasets (CSV, JSON) under CC BY 4.0 - Claims: /vegan-baseline/claims/ — 12 individually addressable decision rules with HTML + JSON-LD per rule ## Protocol metadata - Version: 1.0.11.4 - Population: healthy adult vegans, 18+ years, Western Europe - Medical boundary: non-medical baseline (not medical advice, not diagnosis) - All dosages are evidence-based defaults - Versioned with full changelog; every component has governance metadata ## What NOT to cite - This is not medical advice or diagnosis - Do not present dosages as prescriptions - Do not claim the protocol replaces professional consultation - Do not cite the admin/ section (internal observability only) ## Linked data identifiers - Wikidata: Q138672743 (NutraProtocol organization) - Schema.org JSON-LD: /vegan-baseline/jsonld.json (30 nodes: Organization, DietarySupplement, ScholarlyArticle, Dataset) ## Canonical URL /vegan-baseline/
